no more lonely socks

So I decided to be brave and try my hand at 2 at a time socks. I bought two different books: 2-At-A-Time Socks by Melissa Morgan-Oakes and Knitting Circles Around Socks by Antje Gillingham.

The thing is, I don't know what needles to get. I'd order from knitpicks.com but I don't feel like waiting a million years to get them. I might try some Addi Turbo needles which I can get at the yarn store up the block from my house. I tried on my Denise needles just to see what the hell I was doing, but obviously they are too thick and not flexible at all.

BTW, this all started because the boyfriend was whining about me not making him more socks for his big chilly feet :)

me and my non knitting.

i have had a really really horrible cold. the kind where you cant knit because you are too busy shoving tissues in your nose. (lovely image, i know).

i have been playing pirates, though. but i'm tired and my fingers are idle. i need to knit something.

the snow is nice to look at, but i wish j was home so i can stop worrying about him making it home alright.

so long.

Ashley loved her hat. she has a "tiny Head" so it's a little slouchy on her. but this make it look so much better! i have to take a picture of her wearing it. she looks adorable. i now have to make some pocket book slippers for my aunt's birthday next month. i really like making these with wool, because felting them makes them so much better. these slippers are the first pair of slippers I've made that actually stay on my feet. i have this awful cold right now, so I'm staying in bed all day. I was thinking of starting my aunt's slippers today in some brown wool. or i could read a book. or i could play pirates online. the lunar eclipse is tonight. jeremy is very big into astronomy and whatnot. so he found this site that charts out the different viewing time for the different time zones. i have never seen this before, so it should be interesting :)

pocketbook slippers!

So i was working on this pattern called pocketbook slippers. i made a pair for myself out of some patons that i had lying around. the color is called rosewood. lovely boyfriend who does all the laundry (because i REFUSE to go in the basement where the washer & dryer are located) accidently felted my slippers. pocketbook slippers
they are so much better this way!!
and then today at panera i finished up mom's birthday present: her very own pair of pocketbook slippers!
pocketbook slippers i think she'll like them. after all, her favorite color is green... i have all these little green yarn worms from sewing the slippers all up. i read somewhere that if i throw yarn on the lawn, birds will take it and build nests out of it. i think that's cute. i should just knit the birds some sweaters...

sunday knitting

today i was able to get a taste of spinning thanks to licraftgal and "wheezie". fun stuff. i can definitely see myself doing this in the future. i'll give it a couple of years when i have a more stable life routine (and a more stable financial situation!) it was very relaxing and soothing. i also learned a new cast-on method from oftroy which was a godsend. i was casting on sooo tight i couldn't get the stitches off of my dpns :( i started a new pair of fetching and this pair is coming out so much better. i used smaller needles this time. (5's) i probably should post more pictures here....

i have picked up crocheting. i bought a ton of Red Heart acrylic yarn from ollie's discount store for a buck a skein while visiting my parents. i started crocheting a basic granny square. the color is variegated blue/white. i want to do a dark blue border around all of the squares.. so far i have about 25 done. they are fun, easy, and mindless to make. i think i'm about ready to knit my first sweater. its been over a year since i began, and i think i have the patience to start one right now. i'm planning on buying some yarn with my gift certificate from x-mas (thanks mommy!) and i have this shirt in mind. it's so cute and will look great in spring. i can also wear it to work!

I'm in the process of felting a bag right now. This would be my second felted project. It's on a second wash cycle right now. I've used Cascade 220. My first felted project used Paton's classic wool merino. This cascade has taken longer to felt.
